Ludwig was always punctual and on time when it came to most things and school was one of them. He usually was the first person in his first period but when he walked in this morning he saw (name) sitting there she was alone in the room for who knows how long. She was drawing in her sketch book, Ludwig had always wondered about that what did she draw in the book and why did people make fun of her for it?
He didn't go on about it he just went to his desk and sat down he pulled out a book and began reading. They sat together in silence, he was into his book and she was into her drawing, he looked up at the clock and saw that they were pretty early, people wouldn't be arriving for at least ten minutes or so, he turned around and glance at (name) she had some head phones and was bobbing her head to the music.
He turned his attention back to his book, more silence that is until (name) started singing to herself.
"Do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do," Ludwig recognized the song and sung softly.
"I see a little silhouetto of a man."
"Scaramouche, scaramouche, will you do the fandango," she continued with him.
"Thunderbolt and lightening—very, very frightening me."
"But I'm just a poor boy nobody likes me."
"He's just a poor boy from a poor family. Spare him this life monstrosity."
They would've continued but it was just too funny they started laughing together.
"I didn't know you knew that song," (name) laughed. Ludwig composed himself but was still smiling.
"Well I like to listen to music sometimes when I'm relaxing."
Ludwig nodded think about how to carry the conversation, "What are you drawing?"
(Name) blushed a little and twiddled her thumps, "I-it's just a drawing nothing worth talking about." She pushed a bit of her hair back behind her ear.
"Well it can't be anything bad can it, let me see it." She shrugged got up from her seat and handed him her sketch book, it was just a deer drinking water from a lake it looked like a photograph it looked so real.
"This is really good," he hand her sketch book back to her.
"Thank you I like to draw things with landscapes and animals."
"Well that's nice, I don't see way everyone has a problem with it, and it's nothing to be ashamed of."
"Y-you think so."
"Ja, don't listen to what other people say I know you have friends and you have talent that's all you need."
(Name)'s heart fluttered, no one has ever said that to her, actually treated her with kindness right after meeting her, except for Mathew and Kiku.
"Th-thank you so much Ludwig that really means a lot!"
"No problem." Just then people started walking in class and (name) went back to her seat, soon everyone began piling in and the bell rang.
During class they were to copy notes from the board and then wait for further instructions, (Name) had already finished her notes and went back to her picture and out on the finishing touches, it was one of the best ones she's ever draw, she couldn't wait to go home and color it bring it really to life but as she was admiring her work someone snatched it out of her hands.
"(Last Name), what are you doing drawing when you are supposed to be writing," the teacher yelled.
"I-I f-finished copying sir I was just drawing to past the time," she tried to defend herself but it didn't work. The teacher crumbled up the paper and looked back at (name).
"This is a class room not an art studio; draw on your own darn time!" He went over to the trash can and threw it away; everyone in the class was just watching what happened. Some laughed and others were just giving glares at the teacher, (name) was fighting back tears in her eyes.
Ludwig looked at the teacher then back to (name), he sighed and stood up and went to the trash can he dug out (name)'s picture and smoothed it out, once it was somewhat unwrinkled he walked back to (name)'s desk and gave it to her, she slowly took it and let one tear fall, Ludwig gently wiped it away and went back to his seat.
Everyone in the class was shocked even the teacher, Ludwig never did anything insubordinate, it wasn't like him.
"Mr. Beilschmidt what gave you the right to do that!?"
"The same force that gave you the right to do what you did. Sir," he said looking back at the teacher.
"You Mr. Beilschmidt have earned yourself detention and a call home, do I make myself clear?"
"Yes sir." Ludwig sighed and thought about the talk his Grandfather was going to give him when he got home when he heard a faint sound it sounded like his name he turned around and saw (name) smiling at him, she mouthed the words 'Thank you' then went back to work.
He nodded and did the same.
Ludwig got home and looked around in the living room, no sight of his grandfather he sighed relief and tried to get up to his room but he was met with his grandfather on the stairs, and Gilbert was behind him grinning like a mad man.
'Perfect he knows too," Ludwig thought to himself.
"Ludwig, care to tell me why your brother says that one of your teachers called the house today saying you were disrespectful and you received detention?"
"I'm sorry Grandpa, it—I was defending a friend," his grandfather raised an eyebrow and shook his head.
"Sit down," they all went to the living room and Ludwig sat on the couch, Aldrich sat on the coffee table in front of him and Gilbert sat next to Ludwig.
"Why are you here," Ludwig said.
"Come on you never get in trouble I just want to see, I promise I won't talk."
"That'll be a miracle if I ever saw one."
"Oh haha, very funny you write that yourself?"
"Boys, Gilbert you can stay if you be quite," Aldrich said rubbing his temples, raising these two weren't easy.
"Ludwig start from the beginning."
"It's this girl—
"Ooo, this just got interesting," Gilbert said. They both looked at him telling him to shut up he put his hands up, like he was about to be arrested.
"Anyway you were saying, this girl?"
"Right, well this girl she can draw really well almost as well as Feli and Lovi she drew a picture and it was beautiful. She showed it to me and I gave her a compliment I saw she wasn't used to them but it was the same none the less. Once class got underway we had to copy notes of the board and she finished early so she continued the picture. The teacher didn't like that he yelled at her and crumpled the paper up and threw it in the trash. She really loved that picture when he did that she started crying, all I did was get from the trash and tried to make it look better and gave it back to her."
"And I told him off," he murmured.
"Kesesese, the force is strong with this one," Gilbert snickered.
Aldrich shrugged and stood up, "You did the right thing, I guess chivalry isn't dead, but don't talk to your teacher like Gilbert does."
"Guys seriously it was one time, the seventh grade when are you going to let that go!"
"Just don't beat yourself about it Ludwig, and don't come home with detention I almost slapped Gilbert because I thought he was lying."
"What do you 'almost' you threw a book and my face."
"Yes and next time I won't miss, now both of you go do your homework."
"Yes Grandpa," they said in unison. Aldrich went upstairs and Gilbert got up from his seat but not before Ludwig stopped him.
"Uh wait Gilbert c-can I talk to you." Gilbert noticed the uneasiness in his voice and knew it was serious.
"Sure West, what's up."
"I-it's about the girl."
"Ah I knew it, awesome so you want to ask her out, that's great okay well girls are way different than boys and how you approach them is very important."
"Th-that's what I wanted to talk to you about, I can't really talk to girls."
"But you managed to talk to her."
"Yes on a friend level but when it comes to a relationship, I'm not good at it."
"West don't worry I'm sure likes you, you just have to make her notice that you notice her and she'll get to notice that you like her."
"Never mind so what is it you want me to do?"
"I—I was wondering if you can ask her out for me, I just can't do it on my own."
Gilbert was taken aback he really didn't expect Ludwig to ask him for help it's usually the other way around. Instead of making fun of him he smiled, nodded and patted his shoulder.
"Don't worry little brother I'll send you down the tunnel of love and awesomeness, with my pure awesome chick picking up ways."
"Please don't make this harder than it has to be."
"Right sorry, what's the girl's name she's got to have a name."
"It's (name), (Full Name)."
Gilbert froze in his place, 'What her, why her, shit.'
"Brother are you alright you look paler than usuall."
"N-no I'm fine I'll be sure to ask her for you."
Gilbert couldn't ask (name) for Ludwig he just couldn't. He was at an impasse, one the one hand he could not just ask her and still follow through with the bet have her cry and then he had to deal with a pissed Ludwig. On the other hand he could be b a good brother and help him out.
"Why is this so hard to do, dammit why me?" Gilbert was in the library trying to get his thoughts together wondering what he should do. He wanted to seem really awesome to his friends but then again Ludwig was his brother his own flesh and blood.
"Um excuse me," what sounded like a mouse was actually it (name) she was standing there looking so nervous.
"Oh hey (name) I thought you were on a date with Alfred."
"I was about to leave I just wanted to get a book then I was going to meet him outside."
"Oh..okay." She just stood there staring at him and glancing back and forth to the book shelf, "What?"
"Um you're kind of blocking the way."
"Oh sorry," he moved and she grabbed her book Gilbert looked at the title and it was the same one Ludwig was reading.
"Hey Ludwig is reading that book."
"Yeah I saw him reading it I thought it looked interesting so I thought why not give it a chance," she smiled at him. Gilbert felt worse and worse talking to her, what he was doing, what he was going to do, what he should be doing it's all hard.
"Alfred, Mathias, look before we go anywhere let me talk to you guys."
"What up Gil," Gilbert took a breath it'll be hard standing up for these two.
"What we are going to do to (name) I don't think we should follow through with it."
"What are you talking about Gil I put up with her for a week and your telling me you want out," Alfred said.
"Yeah Gil it was your idea in the first place, you're the one who came up with the bet."
"I know I did but I'm calling it off, she gets enough shit for no reason we can't do this to her."
"Gil," Mathias said seriously looking behind him. Gilbert turned around and saw Ludwig standing there he had his normal straight face but it looked like it was a mix of anger and sadness.
"Guys can I talk to West alone?"
"Sure bro, and don't worry we won't talk to (name) we promise," Alfred said. Once those two were gone Gilbert sat down on a nearby seat, and Ludwig sat next to him.
"Luddy please don't hate me, I started that stupid bet thing because she was an easy target but, I didn't know you liked her."
"So if I didn't like her would you still do it?"
Gilbert was silent he didn't want to answer him, "I see."
Ludwig stood up and Gilbert grabbed his sleeve, "Okay I know screwed up I don't care of your mad at me, but you should really ask her out."
"Gilbert I can't."
"Yes you can."
"Gilbert drop it it's not going to happen, I like that you stood up to your friends and stopped what you were going to do but I just can't okay. I'll see you at home."
"(Name), I've bet you've been wondering why Alfred stopped hanging out with you. Well you see went he was last week the only reason why he was because Mathias and I made a bet with him saying he couldn't last a week with you. We were going to laugh in your face when we were going to tell you but I put a stop to it. I just couldn't go through with doing that to you, when you get so much shit already and I just couldn't do it. I made sure that Alfred and Mathias didn't do it any way behind my back so yeah."
(Name) didn't say much all she said was 'Oh,' and looked at the ground, "Why are you telling me this?"
"Well the partial reason why I decided not to go throw with it is because my brother told me what happened with you and your picture and the dick teacher."
"Yeah and he wanted me to ask you something for him."
"What is it?"
"Look he's a really awesome guy and he just never done or felt anything like this before, so I was wondering if you were considering going out with him."
"I-I what, no if I can't trust you what's makes you think I'll trust your brother?"
"Because you trusted him enough to show him a picture."
(Name) blushed and smiled she shrugged a bit, "Yeah I guess, does he really likes me?"
"Yeah he does he's really great guy trust me."
"I just might talk to him."
Ludwig was lying in his bed looking up at the ceiling just thinking about today. Why did he like her in the first place, well she is a nice girl it would be nice having her as a friend, but Ludwig wanted something more.
His phone rang ruining his thoughts; he picked it up and didn't recognize the number but answered it anyway.
"(N-name)," Ludwig was shocked how did she get his number?
"H-hi um sorry for calling but um that book you were reading last week, it's a really good one. I um it's just that it kind of got too scary in the middle and I just can't finish it."
"Really, well it's to be expected the author did really put in the scare factor."
"Yeah, so I was wondering maybe I can go over um tomorrow and I can finish it at your house; I'm too scared to read it alone."
"Sure if I want I can read it to you, I'll try to make it seem less scary."
"Whew, okay thank you. Oh and Luddy—oops I-I—
"No it's okay you can call me that."
"Oh, well then Luddy can you tell me one thing?"
"Does Christopher make it?"
"I don't think I should tell you, you're just going to have to come over to find out."
"Aw man now I'm going to have to sleep with that on my shoulders."
"Don't worry things get better."
"Oh good, well I'll see you tomorrow Luddy."
"See you tomorrow, (name)."
Ludwig talked it out with Gilbert and they are back on good terms again. (Name) became very happy with Ludwig and her drawings have gotten even better. Things calmed down and the Awesome Trio apologized. Remember guys bullying hurts and it can affect more than one person, speak up and stand up to others, okay?
